A Message from our Founder Lisa Edge
Welcome to Yorkshare – a new way of doing business in Yorkshire!
Having worked in both the private and public sector for over 20 years, I engaged a lot with the business community of Yorkshire. On a personal and a professional level I aimed to support as many organisations and individuals as possible by matching difficulties with resolutions. At a young age, I took to studying and gained a host of qualifications, in a way, you can say education changed my life. And so, working for the education sector, was my opportunity to give back and make a difference to someone else’s. I spent a wonderful 16 years in College positions where I was able to do just that!
As my work with employers increased, as did my passion to support them, moreover, I wanted to help Yorkshire to be the best it could be. I travelled across the county for many years, to ‘listen’, with the view of building long term relationships and supporting businesses. Local employers were clearly voicing a hunger to grow, to develop and work collaboratively, yet barriers to this remained firmly in place. As I listened and better understood what employers needed, I could also see solutions and wanted to find a way to put the two together. Yorkshare was born from the voice of employers and allows our wonderful county to break down barriers, work together, get people into jobs, buy and sell locally, win local contracts and celebrate our successes. It’s clear from the response across Yorkshire, that it’s long overdue and it has been both a humbling and exhilarating feeling to be involved!
Yorkshire was the flagship county as we aimed to be the glue that businesses so desperately lacked. However, news of our platform soon spread and, purely in response to demand, we are expanding our portfolio to neighbouring counties and beyond! Our sole aim is to ensure every single one of our members get a return from their membership, that’s why we make their page statistics available at any time, so members can see exactly what the return on investment is!
